wil woeker met eerste
R10 000 vir Gemeenskap
Solidariteit Helpende Hand se nuutste tak is onlangs in Middelburg gestig en het vinnig weggespring met die Handtoffel projek.
Met die Handtoffel-projek word die gemeenskap aangemoedig om pakkies wol by Helpende Hand aan te koop en dit dan aan bejaardes te skenk, sodat hulle handtoffels kan brei. Hierdeur word die bejaarde kreatief besig gehou en by die gemeenskap betrek deur weer ‘n bydrae te lewer.
“Helpende Hand werk in die gemeenskap om armoede te voorkom, te verbreek en te verlig,” sê Marlene Veldtman, streeksorganiseerder vir Helpende Hand in die Oos-Kaap. “In die geval van weerlose bejaardes kan armoede – fisies en emosioneel – steeds verlig word.”
Danksy die inwerkingstelling van ’n takbeloningsplan sal elke Helpende Hand-tak
R10 000 van die organisasie ontvang om in die gemeenskap aan te wend vir elke 15 nuwe ondersteuners wat by ’n tak aansluit.
Die plan sal verseker dat ondersteuners se fondse ten volle in hulle eie gemeenskappe aangewend word. Die dienste wat Helpende Hand se takke lewer, is op alle lede van die gemeenskap, van kleuters tot bejaardes gerig en is op die bevordering van die beleid van opheffing-deur-opleiding toegespits.
Helpende Hand doen ’n beroep op die publiek om hierdie plan van hoop te ondersteun deur by sy takke betrokke te raak.

The Hofmeyer Endurance Club will be hosting the “new” Hogsback Inn Endurance Horse Ride on Saturday August 24th. Revived by popular demand after a “break “ of more than 15 years, The Hogsback Ride is being hosted by the Hogsback Inn, who at very short notice, have pulled out all the stops to make the event memorable for both competitors and spectators. ROADWORKS AHEAD….The N10-3 between Cradock and Cookhouse is a beehive of roadwork activity. There is currently three Stop and Go’s in place and on Tuesday and Thursdays the possibility that the road can be closed from 12h00 to 16h00 also exists. Motorists must please take all the above into account when planning their route as a big build-up of vehicles could be experienced (as seen in above photo) on those two days.

Gill Website
GILL COLLEGE ON THE MOVE…… The latter held a function recently to celebrate the opening of their new club house and to launch their new impressive interactive website. According to the web designer, Lyndon Friend, of The Media Centre in Graaff-Reinet, it is one of the more impressive school websites in the country and are fully interactive and very user friendly. Friend mentioned that he is very proud of the final product as well as the fact that he could have been involved in the whole process. The website can be viewed at
Present at the launch of the website were from left Mr. Lyndon Friend, The Media Centre, and Mr Steven Zietsman, Headmaster Gill College.
The newly built clubhouse, next to the existing cafeteria, is also a welcome new edition to the Gill Campus. The clubhouse with its facilities will definitely add value to the school and will be utilised for numerous functions and gatherings alike. Well done to Mr Zietsman, his staff and Governing Body for all the new developments and improvements at Gill College.
