SEVEN SUSPECTS ARRESTED

FOR HOUSE ROBBERY IN
SOMERSET EAST
MEDIA STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CLUSTER COMMANDER,
BRIG. AJ. TROLLIP, SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE, GRAAFF REINET
Seven people were arrested in Somerset East in connection with the robbery that occurred on Saturday 2012.07.07. The robbers had broken into one of the local’s home, grievously assaulted him and stole some of his valuable property. Warrant Officer Mpanza and his dedicated team of detectives did not rest until they have brought the perpetrators to book. Within 48 hours they have arrested seven suspects and recovered most of the stolen items valued at over R20 000, and a firearm that might have been used in some of the recent house robberies. The suspects are between the ages of 18 and 25 years old. These youngsters will face the full might of the law. They are expected to appear at the Somerset East Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 2012.07.12. The suspects are also linked with some of the other house breaking incident that have been reported in Somerset East. They will be facing charges of house breaking and theft, pointing of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm just to name a few.
On behalf of the Somerset East SAPS management, the station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kemp would like to thank Warrant Officer Mpanza and his team for a job well done, and to reassure the community that Somerset East Police will do their best to protect them and to remove criminals from their area.

Auditor General Applauds
Blue Crane Route Municipality
SOMERSET EAST
The Auditor General, Terence Nombembe pledged the commitment of his office to support Blue Crane Route Municipality to continue its efforts to improve its audit opinion and complimented the municipality on good work.
Nombembe was speaking during his visit to Blue Crane Route Municipality in Somerset East on Friday 6 July 2012.
AG is currently doing his “Door to Door Visits” to municipalities and other government departments.
Blue Crane Route Municipality got unqualified audit for the second time in a row. He said he was here at Blue Crane to show the way forward towards a clean audit.
The AG placed emphasis on good financial reporting, service delivery reporting, Performance Management System and compliance to improve and align information. He thanked municipality for giving “good insight of what the municipality is all about”.
“I’m very happy that Blue Crane Route Municipality has passed hard storms and became what it is today”, he said.
On the one hand I’m happy, on the other hand I am nervous of what we have achieved in Blue Crane will be sustained” he said, urging the municipality to sustain its hard work and success.
Nombembe said when he comes “here again in November next year I wish to celebrate a clean audit, you have passed through storms so this is a minor shower,” he described.
Before getting to serious business Auditor General, Terence Nombembe was taken to a tour, an Tourism Hub and Aviation Projects, by Blue Crane Route Municipality Mayor, Cllr Majorie Scott and Cacadu District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Khunjuzwa Eunice Kekana together with Blue Crane Development Agency team. During the tour the Auditor General was “so fascinated by the very good work and projects” being done by the municipality and its entity, Blue Crane Development Agency.
AG was so impressed that the municipality is using its beautiful mountains and a little town with gentle spirit and innovation enhancing the attractive qualities in making sure that it becomes more attractive.
